Taking A Leap of Faith

Salman Dean

Everyone goes through stuff in life and every time I learn from a new experience I feel growth within myself. Today I want to talk about taking a leap of faith. I recently left my job without having anything lined up because I was so unhappy. Being in that environment was so soul destroying that I came in one day and decided to just take a risk and quit. It was an extremely difficult decision and took a lot of courage. Financially I wasn't in the place to be making such a bold move however, it all worked out in the end.

Korean Skincare Picks

Korean Skincare Picks

If you haven't already gathered I'm pretty much a product junkie. I'm always trying and testing new products. For a number of years I've been fascinated with Korean skincare as it's very advanced. Their choice of ingredients are really interesting and are better formulated than a lot of products in the U.K market. That being said not everything is amazing. Be cautious of products that contain denatured alcohol and lots of fragrance. Here are some products that I love.

Denim Wallflower | Overcoming Social Anxiety

Salman Dean Wallflower ASOS Look

Are you a wallflower while surrounded by social butterflies? I don't personally suffer from this but I know people who do. I wanted to shed light onto a topic that isn't really talked about and get people thinking.  Having this anxiety disorder can be debilitating because people fear being judged or humiliated in social situations. This makes even simple daily social interactions very difficult and daunting.

The trick to overcoming this is mindfulness. Here are my 4 tips to help you break out of your comfort zone and help you understand the root cause of your social anxiety:

1. Accept your shyness instead of fighting it. It's important to understand what the root cause is for you to become shy when the spotlight hits you. Whether its yourself image, being labeled by others or how you come across. The more you tell yourself you don't fit in the more you will exclude yourself in social settings.

2. Focus on your whole experience. Shyness can be triggered when you feel conscious and don't want to embarrass your self. Instead of scrutinising your own behaviour pay attention to your surroundings. Try and be present in the moment as this will help keep you calm. If you can't start a conversation at least look approachable by having great posture.

3. Have compassion for yourself and don't compare yourself to others. This will cause you to feel inadequate and you'll end up going into your shell. Know that experiencing social anxiety isn't a weakness and value yourself. People may label you but don't let them define who you are as a person. Most of all know it's okay to not be okay.

4. Remember that this moment will too pass and nothing lasts forever. It's okay to make mistakes and move on. Use it to understand you social anxiety and how you can control it next time.

Why I'm Not Accepting Birthday Gifts This Year

Hey guys, I hope you are well. It's my birthday on June 9th and everyone's been asking me what I want for presents. I came up with a few ideas but the longer I thought about it, I realised I didn't need any of these things. And if I did then I can surely buy it myself.

Thats why this year I am asking for my loved ones to donate to WaterAid instead of gifting me. Every minute, people suffer and lives are lost needlessly because of a lack of clean water and sanitation. Helping this cause is the best gift anyone can give me.

Its not my intention to hound people to donate money but I've told the close people in my life who I would normally receive gifts from.

My donation page can be found here.

March 2017 Favourites With Mankind

Hey guys hope you are well! I can't believe we are well into April and it's a bit late for me to be doing my March favourites. That being said it's been a while since I've done a monthly favourites post and i've got lots to share with you. Mankind kindly sent me a massive box of goodies and i've taken the time to try everything out. Here are the products that i'm absolutely obsessed with.

Bad Boy Gone Good

Black Ripped Skinny Jeans - Pull & Bear (Similar here)

When I was younger I used to be really ratchet. I wasn't a nice person at all but thank god I grew up and now I'm what some may call a "good boy". That very idea is what inspired this post. I mean don't get me wrong I still have a ratchet streak in me but I would never intentionally do anything to harm anyone. If you've read some of my other posts then you'd know I'm a pretty spiritual person. I'm always working on myself to be the best version I can be.
