My Thoughts On The Kiehl's Facial Fuel Range

Salman Dean

Hey guys - I'm back with another skin care review post. As always I'm going to keep it 100% real and share with you the pro's and con's. These are just my thoughts so feel free to come to your own conclusion. One thing I have to say is I'm really disappointed with L'oreal across their brands as they don't list ingredients on their websites. As a customer I would like to know what is in the products I'm buying. I have included a full ingredients list for the products being reviewed below.

Kiehl's Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash

I've been using this glycerin based face wash over the last few weeks and I have mixed feelings towards it. The formulation has been let down by a select few ingredients. One in particular is caffeine - research is still fairly inconclusive so in my books I would say the inclusion of this is a con because some claim its an irritant. Another known ingredient to be an irritant is menthol - this is what causes the tingling sensation when using the face wash. Just because you are a man your skin DOES NOT need to tingle and in fact you are just going to cause collagen break down. Last but not least is the fragrance which has been included. This actually doesn't bother me as it is in low levels but if you are prone to sensitive skin this may cause a reaction. I have also used this with my Clarisonic and must admit that a lot more product is required when using it with the device, compared to just using your hands.

Kiehl's Facial Fuel Face Wash

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Propylene Glycol, Capryl Glycol/Caprylyl Glycol, Coco-Betaine, Acrylates/Ateareth-20 Methacrylate Copolymer, Tea-Lauryl Sulfate, Triethanolamine, Coco-Glucoside, Phenoxyethanol, Decyl Glucoside, Methylparaben, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Benzophenone-3, Propylparaben, Caffeine, Corn Germ Oil, Menthol, Limonene, Plyquaternium-39, Soybean Oil, Tocopheryl, Orange Fruit Extract, Chestnut Extract, Blue 1, Red 4

Kiehl's Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub

I must admit I'm not a major fan of scrubs due to their harshness but I have enjoyed using this product. Apricot kernels are used as the exfoliant particles, but this isn't like St Ives. The granules vary in size so their are larger kernels and smaller ones which provide a smoother exfoliation. Lauric acid found in coconut oil has also been included in the formulation due to it's soothing properties. Menthol and fragrance have been included however they are lower down in the ingredients list. At this kind of price point I would expect something better however it all depends on how sensitive your skin is.

Kiehl's Facial Fuel

There is not much I can say about this product so I'm just going to dive straight in there. Alcohol is listed as the third ingredient which is extremely drying and is an irritant. Paired with the inclusion of menthol, I think the formulation is very weak and better alternatives can be found if you are looking for something with a mattifying effect.

Yankee Candle Barbershop Sandalwood

Well thats it from me - if you've used these products let me know your thoughts below. Also let me know if you have a particular product by Kiehl's that you love because I'm always looking for new things to try out.

I also quickly wanted to say thank you to Yankee Candle for sending me something from their latest barbershop collection. This tumblr candle is a spicy mix of sandalwood and juniper with a hint of patchouli. It's really light and literally does smell like a barbershop. Excited to try the rest of the range especially the fragrance called "Hot Towel".

Thanks for sharing information about these products. I liked face wash personally as you described here, it seems that it is better than lot of other face wash products in market. Dissertation writing services
