8 Useful Tools, Apps & Websites For Bloggers

I have to admit i'm not particularly good at juggling my personal life and the blog at the same time. I focus really hard on one and end up neglecting the other. However recently I've been using some useful tools and apps which have made things so much easier! Some of these apps are directly linked to blogging although others can be used for pretty much anything else.

Hemingway Editor

If writing isn't your strong point then this tool will be your new best friend. The Hemingway Editor app highlights long, complex sentences and common errors; if you see a yellow sentence, shorten or split it. If you see a red highlight, your sentence is so dense and complicated that your readers will get lost trying to follow its logic. It also highlights when you can use a shorter word in place. Personally I can become very repetitive when writing. When I copy and paste my article in the Hemingway Editor it flags up all the areas I can improve hopefully making it easier for you guys to read. I mean at the end of the day it is a computer algorithm so don't take it to heart if all of your work is highlighted. As long as its easy to read you'll be fine.

Ifttt.com

This is a really useful tool with the potential to do anything. Ifttt connects with various social media platforms and other tools that allow you to set automated actions. For example every time I post a picture on Instagram it automatically posts to my Twitter (without an ugly link) and to Pinterest. You can set it to save Instagram pictures you like to your Dropbox as well as any screen shots you take. There are so many ways you could go with, it's definitely worth playing around with.

UnrollMe

I'm sure everyone has experienced an overwhelming crazy inbox with random emails from things you subscribed to years ago. UnrollMe scans through your email and brings up a list of things you are subscribed to. You can then go through and remove any unwanted subscriptions. I'm sure we've all ticked that dreadful box and been spammed with loads of crazy emails. Groupon is the worst for me! Not only does this help declutter your inbox but it's fast too. I would recommend you do this every few months. It makes things so much more efficient in the long run.

Hootsuite

What kind of post would this be if I didn't mention Hootsuite. If you don't already know Hootsuite is a tool that helps you schedule social media posts. Scheduled posts aren't really my style however it is really handy when you need to post a link to one of your blog posts. With my busy lifestyle I always used to forget to push my blog posts via social media. There's no point in writing amazing content if it isn't reaching people. Also what I've recently started doing is pushing old posts by scheduling them in. Its a great way of reviving older content.

Queue+

Similar to Hootsuite, Queue+ schedules posts however it's only for Tumblr. I'm a massive fan of Tumblr and I'm obsessed! Not only with the amazing inspiration but also growing my own following. The main way to do that with Tumblr is consistent posting. Queue+ goes through who you follow and allows you to select what you want to repost and automatically schedules the best time to repost it. That way it looks like you are reposting throughout the day. A really useful tool overall and I've noticed my followers are going up slowly.

Bloglovin

If you're a blogger then you need to be all over Bloglovin. If you don't already know it's a blogroll feed that allows you to follow people and be followed. When you follow someone their posts will appear in your feed. Similar to Instagram but instead of it being a photo it's a blog post. This is a great way to raise awareness of your blog and get traffic. For me personally it's also about keeping up to date with my favourite blogs and staying inspired to write better content. I have the app on my phone which makes it easy for me to do some light reading of my favourite bloggers before bed!

Facetune

Facetune is a popular photo editing app that I use for everything! The app is meant to be used to edit blemishes and and dark circles but I don't use it for that. I'm not a fan of using it on my face as I think that overly airbrushed look can look quite contrived however I'm not shy to get rid of a blemish or two either haha. Sometimes there can be specks of dust or unwanted marks that you want to edit out which is what I mainly use it for. Also I'm obsessed with the whitening feature it can really make a picture look 10 times cleaner. The app does cost £2.99 but it's worth it especially for how much you'll use it.

Dropbox

I feel like everyone uses Dropbox or a similar cloud service these days. I obviously use it to back up really import things but I also find it easy to transfer pictures with. Especially when I want to Instagram something I just use the Dropbox app on my phone and I can download the image I want in seconds. I also use Dropbox to share images and files with brands that I'm working with when the file sizes are to large to attach in an email.

Well thats it guys. If you know of any other apps or tools that make blogging easy for you, please comment below! I would love to find more ways to make things easier.
