Photo Diary: An Afternoon At Zen Garden

Zen Garden Nairobi
Today I learnt a very important blogging lesson. Never forget your camera! I had such an amazing day here in Kenya at a place called Zen Garden but I was so bummed I didn't have my camera (all the following pictures were taken on my iPhone). Captured in the scenic surroundings of Nairobi's Spring, the sheer beauty of the location is uncompromised by the quality of food and high level of service. It is a fine dining restaurant however we just went for some nibbles and dessert. Their red velvet and pinacolada cake was exceptionally great. Zen Garden is truly a beautiful place.

London Town To Nairobi

Salman Dean
Hey guys! I'm currently on one of the most amazing trips of a lifetime and I wanted to take you guys with me. You'll be seeing some posts from me while I'm in Kenya and also when I'm back. Everyday here is magical and I rarely have time to myself at the hotel however when I do I will be posting. But for now here's my journey from London to Nairobi.

Cheap Monday

Happy Monday! I quickly shot this last week when the weather was miserable, in classic London style it was sunshine and showers. This medium knit is my new favourite thing featuring an oversized shape with ribbed cuffs and hem. It has a bit of a longline cut to it with the Cheap Monday logo featured on the sleeves. This is literally a Monday kind of look when you can't be bothered and just want to roll out of bed and into something comfortable. Things like this make me excited for Autumn/ Winter, anyone else feel the same?

Carrot & Walnut Muffin Recipe

Carrot and walnut muffin
It turns out you guys really like my recipe posts so I'm back with another one! This delicious recipe is courtesy of Whitworths and it's so good! I literally love carrot cake, I could eat it everyday but this recipe combines it with walnuts which takes it to a whole new level. This recipe requires the most ingredients out of the ones I have posted so far but the reward is definitely worth it.

(makes 12 muffins)

100g Whitworths Walnut Pieces
1 medium orange, finely grated zest & juice
2 medium eggs
175g dark soft brown sugar
125ml sunflower oil
200g plain flour
1tsp baking powder
1tsp ground cinnamon
150g carrots, finely grated
100g sultanas (optional)
250g full fat soft cheese
100g unsalted butter, softened
75g icing sugar

Preheat your oven to 180°C/ Fan 160°C/ Gas Mark 4, then line a 12 cup muffin tin with cases.

Roughly chop the walnut pieces then set aside for baking and decorating.

Beat the eggs, brown sugar and oil together in a bowl then add 4 tablespoons juice of orange.

Sieve the flour, baking powder and cinnamon into the bowl then fold until evenly combined.

Stir in the carrot, sultanas and 85g walnuts (leaving 15g to decorate)

Spoon mixture between the cases then bake in the centre of the oven for 30 minutes. Leave to cool completely.

Meanwhile beat the cream cheese, butter, icing sugar and zest of orange together until smooth. Using the back of a teaspoon swirl the frosting over the top of the muffins then decorate with the remaining walnut pieces.

Serve and enjoy!

Although mine don't look as pretty as I intended these have gone down a treat in my household. I didn't have a muffin tin which is why my muffins opened up so much but oh well, they taste just as good.

Backup Products

Hey guys, hope you're having a great week. Here's a post I never thought I'd do in a million years but I was organising my things the other day and realised I have so many backup products. Yes I know I'm a product junkie but I know I'm not alone. Here are an eclectic bunch of products that are so good I just keeping coming back to them again and again.

An Afternoon At Levant

levant restaurant
The other day me and my friend Afreen decided to have a random day in London. We felt kind of hungry and it just so happened we were near one of my favourite Lebanese restaurants, so I decided to take her there. I've been going to Levant for a couple of years now and it's such a charming place.  Hidden on Wigmore Street you're greeted with a grand chandelier and a set of dimly lit stairs on arrival. It makes you feel as if you're in another country. Once you've made your way to the bottom you'll be greeted by the friendly staff.

I love to come here in the afternoon to eat off their 'Express Lunch Menu' which runs between 12noon and 4:30pm. Their prices are fairly affordable and you can get a good deal if you eat from the set menu. I decided to go for their Chicken Taouk Wrap Platter on this occasion, it comes with delicious Lebanese fries (which are my fav!) and salad with a yummy dressing on it. Also they serve you a bowl of seasoned olives and pickles before your meal and they are divine too. Not that I have a clue what they are seasoned with, but they are so good!

Levant is a great place to come for a first date especially at lunch time as it can get quite busy in the evening. It's super romantic and charming plus the food is great. I've been here quite a few times and I must say I have great memories at this place - some that I'll never forget. Because it is below street level you won't be able to get signal however the staff will be more than happy to give you the wifi password.

Let me know if you're planning on checking out this adorable restaurant or if you already have.

Colder Nights

Navy Floral T-shirt - Zara
Black Stretch Skinny Jeans - River Island

Hey guys, hope you're having a great weekend. As the evenings get colder and we transition into AW15 I had an opportunity to wear my new coat from Zara the other night. I spent the evening roaming around the shops in Canary Wharf followed by dinner.

This super soft beauty is my new favourite thing. I was a bit apprehensive about the funnel collar but it didn't look too bad on me and I love the way the coat falls. I'm a great believer in spending a good amount of money on coats because at the end of the day you will wear it over all your clothes in the colder months. Don't know if that's just me or if anyone else is like that?!

Axel Arigato's Latest Collection

I recently came across the brand Axel Arigato and have been so obsessed with the luxury footwear brand. They've just released their latest collection titled ‘Clean 90’ and they are definitely on my wishlist (the embossed black python's of course) . Although the shoes look extremely luxury they aren't to bad on price. Ranging from £115 for a suede Chukka style to £165 for a high top suede fish embossed sneaker.

If you're sneaker obsessed then you'll be happy to know Axel Arigato release at least one new style every week, called Drop of the Week. The current collection is diverse and includes low, mid, high top and chukka sneakers along with loafers and slippers. What I really like about the brand is their simplistic style that encompass lux detailing. Not only that but they offer couture styles at affordable prices. I know you may be thinking they are not that affordable however the price of trainers have gone up, so they are no more than you would be paying for a pair of the latest Nikes. Don't you agree?!

The brand operates out of Sweden and sells within 92 countries across the globe. Axel Arigato is a fairly young brand which was only founded in July 2014, however it is quickly becoming a sensation. To celebrate their one year anniversary they launched their first womenswear collection (so don't worry ladies you're not missing out).

If you're equally obsessed with the brand like me then you can find more information below.
