Wrapped Up Life

mens capes asos
Waxed Denim Slim Fit Jeans - Zara
Black Work Boots - ASOS (similar here)

Hey everyone! The weather in London has literally been crazy. It's mainly been muggy and humid but recently it's started to get colder and rain. The other day it was so cold that I had to wear my coat! I decided to wrap up in this really cool cape I bought from ASOS.

I love experimenting and trying new things. Although I don't really like to follow trends, (unless I genuinely like one) capes are going to be massive this AW15. They made an appearance last year but most high street stores are now carrying them. They come in all sorts of variations from thin soft material to thick fluffier ones with cool patterns. Some include tassels for that boho look and they can also come in longer length if you want more material to play around with.

I love the autumn colour of this cape and the fluffy material it's made from. I styled mine with some military work boots and waxed jeans. I've been a major fan of waxed jeans for about 4 years now, I literally have so many pairs! I thought adding a turtle neck would be a nice touch especially because the whole outfit is black with only the cape adding colour. When wearing all black it's important to play around with length and textures.

With so many ways to wear capes I may do a post in the future showing you all the different ways to style them. What do you make of the cape trend?

Apricot Shortbread Recipe

Last month I attended a blogger baking event that was hosted by Great British Bake Off finalist Holly Bell. I already did a post on the tropical breakfast bars she taught us to make (they are totally delicious). The event was put on by Whitworths so I thought I would share another recipe using their chopped apricots this time.

(makes 12 biscuits)

70g Whitworths chopped apricots
125g unsalted butter, softened
55g caster sugar
180g plain flour

Preheat your oven to 180°C/ Fan 160°C/ Gas Mark 4, then lightly grease and line a baking tray.

Cream together the butter and sugar until smooth then add the flour and chopped apricots to form a dough.

Roll out on a lightly floured surface, approximately 1cm thick then cut into 12 cookies with your favourite cutter.

Place onto a baking tray then chill for 20 minutes.

Bake in the centre of your oven for 16-18 minutes until a pale golden colour.

Allow to cool completely on a wire rack then eat and enjoy!

Fun tip: Why not try dipping the base into melted white chocolate then enjoy when the chocolate has set... Yum!

These were really easy to make although I did mess up a little when making mine. I ended up rolling the dough out to thin and had more than 24 cookies cut out! Then of course I burned them a little hence why the apricots in my shortbread are looking like raisins haha. They were still really yummy though. I hope you don't make the same mistakes as me and let me know if you try out this recipe (or just like shortbread biscuits in general).

Happy baking!

I'm Addicted to The Body Shop Shower Gels

the body shop shower gel 750ml
I've always liked the shower gels from The Body Shop and I even mentioned one in my July favourites postbut I think I may have taken my obsession to a whole new level. They recently had a sale on (when don't they) and they had these massive 750ml bottles on offer. That's a total of 3 liters worth of shower gel !! I've bought them in the past and they literally took me a year to finish.

Dean On The Low

Nana Judy Black Leather Jacket - Topman
Zip Up Black Leather Boots - Zara

Hi guys! Hope you're well!! The weather has been so crazy in London it's either sunshine or showers.

I recently was having a browse in the Topman sale and came across this Nana Judy Black Leather Jacket. I love the zip detailing on the sleeves and the inside was so soft and warm with a faux sheep effect.

As soon as I saw it I thought to myself that it had a bit of a James Dean vibe to it. Most young people have heard of James Dean but don't actually know who he is. Dean was a famous actor in the 50's who starred in a few successful movies and even acted alongside Marilyn Monroe. He tragically died at age 24 in a violent car accident and forever became a cultural icon.

Although he was known for his acting I really love his style. Some of you may think there's nothing to it but his classic and understated style has heavily influenced a lot of the things in my wardrobe and the way I dress.

I wanted to pay tribute to this cool guy and I hope you like this post.

Recipe For Holly Bell's Tropical Breakfast Bars

tropical breakfast bar
A few weeks ago I was invited to a blogger baking event that was hosted by Great British Bake Off finalist Holly Bell. I must admit I haven't seen the Bake Off before (even though the nation is obsessed) but Holly was such a doll, telling us entertaining stories and of course sharing her delicious recipes. The event was put on by Whitworths who i'm sure you've all heard of or seen in your local supermarket. This recipe was specially created for them by Holly - all the details are below:
